Problem:
When executing a command in AutoCAD/Cap that would normally display a file selection dialog window (such as OPEN, SAVE AS, RECOVER, etc.), a prompt is displayed at the command line instead of the dialog window appearing. If the command line happens to be turned off when doing this, AutoCAD appears to do nothing.
Solution:
It is likely the FILEDIA system variable is turned off. To ensure AutoCAD will display dialog windows, perform the following steps:
- Type FILEDIA on the command line and press Enter.
- For the value enter 1 and then press Enter.
- Test your command again and verify that the dialog window now appears.
