You notice that the furniture symbols in your Giza drawing are displaying strangely. Items now appear jagged, distorted, or even some parts of the symbol are missing.
This phenomenon can occur if the drawing or items you are placing into a drawing are very far away from Giza's central origin point.
On each Giza drawing, the origin or 0,0 center of space is represented by a small red dot on screen.
If items get placed at extreme distances from this spot, then strange issues can develop such as the distorted symbol appearance. The fix is to move the drawing closer to the origin.
Checking an Items Position
Right click on a furniture object and choose properties. The Loc. 1: will display the items X, Y cartesian coordinates that designate its position in the drawing.
In the above example, you can see the item is resting 841,318 feet away from the origin along the X axis, and 2,098,994 feet on the Y Axis.
You will need to move the entire drawing that same distance in the opposite direction, which will then get all items very close to the origin point.
Moving the Drawing
- Select your entire drawing (Edit Menu, Select, Choose All)
- Once the drawing is fully selected, right click on any item and choose Move > Move Dialog.
- Type in the X and Y coordinates you wrote down from the Loc 1 properties dialog.
- Set the arrows accordingly to have the drawing move in the correct direction toward the origin. In our example, the X pointing to the left, and the Y pointing down.
Click Perform Move.
The drawing should now be moved. Use the Zoom All button to locate the drawing after the move.
If moved correctly, and close enough to the origin, the symbols should now display properly.
