Issue
You are attempting to export a SIF file from your Worksheet file and receive the following error:
Unable to export the specified file:
The file format was not recognized
Example:
Solution 1
The file path of the export location may be too long. This error can occur if the total amount of characters of the file path, including the filename and extension, exceeds 259 characters. The error message will also display the location you are attempting to save the file to. In the above example, it is easy to see this is a very long file location and name. Export the file again but save the file to a simplified location with a short file name and path. The file should save correctly if this was the cause of the issue. To be safe, we recommend to keep the file path location to 240 characters or less.
Solution 2
If your file path location is short, then this issue could be a temporary glitch that simply requires a restart of the application. Save your work and fully exit Worksheet. Then reopen the program and attempt to create the SIF file again.
Solution 3
Make sure Worksheet is not running in compatibility mode for a previous operating system. Close Worksheet. Right-Click on the 2020 Worksheet shortcut and choose properties. Select the Compatibility tab. Make sure the compatibility mode box is not checked.
