The Advanced Report Designer allows you to create multiple reports with a cover page and an end page for terms and conditions. You can convert an existing report into an advanced report and edit it in the new tool. To ensure consistency the reports can be shared with the whole team.
Create a new advanced report
- Navigate to Tools > Advance Report Designer
- In the new window Designer you will see Page 1 with pre populated headers.
- In the Properties panel to the right of the screen select the option Dictionary.
- Open the Worksheet Dataset tree.
- Select Product to open the tree further. Drag and drop the items you want to see in your report from this section in the Data Band Product header.
Repeat step 5 for both the Options and Attributes fields if required.
Note: these can be formatted to be a different color or font see instructions on how to do this below.
Edit a report
- In Worksheet, select the tab Report and click Manage Report Designs.
- Select the report and click Edit.
This will open the Designer.
How to group items in the report
For a Group Header to work it should be added above the Product band.
- In the Designer select the tab Insert.
- Select the option Bands and select either Group Header or Group Footer.
- In the report click in the space you wish to add the Group Header or Group Footer to.
- In the window Group select any field from the Product Data band that you want to use for grouping the items by in the report. The selected field will now appear in the Group Header band.
- Go to Data Sources > Worksheet Dataset > Product and insert the selected field into the Group Header band.
Note: To create a Header for each grouping select the option from the Properties panel in the Dictionary tab, select Data Sources > Worksheet Dataset > ColumnHeaders and drag and drop this into the Group Header Band. You can format this text using the Home tab.
How to add the price adjustment band
- In the Designer select Dictionary in the Properties panel to the right.
- Navigate to Data Sources > Worksheet Dataset > Price Adjustments drag and drop this into the area of the report in which you wish to show the price adjustments.
- In the Data window select the information you wish to include and click OK.
How to add a Sort or Filter to a group
- In the Designer double click the Data Source band you wish to apply the Sort or Filter to.
- In the Data window select the Sort or Filter in the left toolbar and make your rules.
- Click OK and the Filter or Sort will be applied to the selected Data source band.
Apply a specific color to a band
- Select the band you wish to edit.
Note: you must be able to see that only the Band content is visible.
- Navigate to the Properties panel on the right and select Properties.
- Under the option Appearance select Brush > Color.
- The second column has a drop down option, click this to open the color selections.
- Make your selection and save your changes.
Format text
- Select the text in the report you wish to amend.
- Navigate to the Properties panel on the right and select Properties.
- Under the option Appearance select Font to change the type of font or size, Text Brush to change the color of the text.
Note: Alternatively you can use the options under the Home tab in the top toolbar.
Upgrade an existing report into an advanced report
Note: When converting an existing report if there is a rich text box this will not come across to the new report and will have to be manually created in the new Report Designer.
- In Worksheet > Tools select Advance Report Converter.
- Select Browse, navigate to the location of the existing report and click Open.
- Check the location for your Advanced reports and select Convert.
- In the Advance Report Converter Summary you will see if the file was successfully converted. Select Close.
- Select the tab Report and click Manage Report Designs.
- Select the report and click Edit.
- This will open the Designer.
Share your report with the team
- In Worksheet, select the tab Report and click Manage Report Designs in Advance report section.
- In the Manage Report Designs window you will see the Default folder for your advanced reports.
- Select the more options icon next to Default Folder and select a shared folder or alternatively navigate to the default folder and share your desired report file by copying to a shared folder.
