Report designer
From the Field Explorer tab of the Explorer bar, you can add five types of fields into your report design:
- Data fields - these are linked to data in a worksheet
- Product image fields
- Column header fields
- Rich text fields
- Images
These are found on the Report Designer, follow the steps below to see the Field Explorer.
- Navigate to the Report toolbar, under the section Report select Manage Report Designs select the report you want to edit and click Edit, or select New to create a new report.
Add a data field
- Click the Field Explorer tab.
- Click on the + sign to open the section. You will see all the fields that you can add to that section in the report design.
Note: The section must be displayed on the report design before you can add fields to it. See Show or hide a section to display a section.
- Drag the desired report fields into that section of the Design view.
A green check should appear next to field names as they are added to the sections.
- You can resize each field by selecting it then hovering over the green box to stretch or shrink the field.
- Double-click the field to change its properties. See Field properties for details.
Note: If you have column header fields in the Page Header section, you can copy these as data fields to the Product Detail, Option Detail, Attribute Detail or Grand Total sections by right-clicking on the destination section then selecting Insert Column Header Field Design.
Only column header fields that have equivalent fields in the destination section will be copied.
Add a product image field
- Click the Field Explorer tab.
- Click on the + sign to open the Product Detail section.
The Product Detail section must be displayed on the report design before you can add fields to it. See Show or hide a section to display a section.
- Drag the Preview Image field into the Product Detail section of the Design view.
- You can resize the preview field by selecting it then hovering over the green box to stretch or shrink the field.
Note: By default, the image dimensions in the report are 64x64, but the image can be enlarged. However, since the resolution of the stored image is 256x256, the image may look poor if stretched above that resolution.
Field properties
To change a text field's properties, see the topic Add a rich text field.
To change an image field's properties, see the topic Add an image.
- To change a data field's appearance, double-click on the field.
- From the Field Properties dialog modify any of the following settings and then click OK.
- Font
- Size
- Styles
- Alignment
- Color
- Border
Add a column header field
You can add column header fields into the Page Header section only.
- Click the Field Explorer tab.
- Click on the + sign to open the Page Header section.
The section must be displayed on the report design before you can add fields to it. See Show or hide a section to display a section.
- Click on the + sign beside Column Header to see all the column header fields you can add to the Page Header section.
- Drag the desired fields into the Page Header section of the Design view.
A green check should appear next to field names as they are added to the sections.
You can resize each field by selecting it then hovering over the green box to stretch or shrink the field.

Add a rich text field
- Click the Field Explorer tab.
- Click on the + sign beside Reusable Fields.
- Drag the Text field into a section of the Design view.
- You can resize the field by selecting it then hovering over the green box to stretch or shrink the field.
- Double-click the field to enter text.
- In the Field Properties dialog, enter the text and select its font, size, color, style, alignment. You can also change its indentation or create a bulleted list.
- Click OK.
Note: You can add up to 10 rich text fields in a section.
Add an image
- Click the Field Explorer tab.
- Click on the + sign beside Reusable Fields.
- Drag the Image field into a section of the Design view.
- You can resize the field by selecting it then hovering over the green box to stretch or shrink the field.
- Double-click the field to select an image.
- In the Field Properties dialog, click
to select an image.
Or, clickto use the current Prepared By image as set in Worksheet Preferences.
- By default, the image is automatically resized to fit the size of the field. Click
to restore the image to its original size.
Note: that the image may no longer fit the page.
- Click OK.
Note: You can add up to 5 image fields in a section.
Select a field
To select one field, click on it. Green squares will appear around the field.
To select more than one field do either of the following:
- Click on the first field you want to select.
- Press and hold the Shift key, then click on the other fields you want to select.
OR
- Click and hold the left mouse button.
- Drag the mouse to draw a box around the fields you want to select, then release the mouse button.
Advanced report designer
In the Advanced report designer you can add more detail and even create a Cover page or add a page for Terms and Conditions. For more information on the Advanced report designer click here.

These are found on the Report Designer, follow the steps below to see the Field Explorer.
- Navigate to the Report toolbar, under the section Advanced Report select Manage Report Designs select the report you want to edit and click Edit, or select New to create a new report.
Add a data field
- To the right of the window you will see a side bar with three tabs. Select the tab Dictionary.
- Under Data Sources you will see Worksheet Dataset as a step in. Select the + icon.
- Select the + icon next to the Data set you want to take a data field from.
- Drag and drop the field to where you want to add it to your report.
Note: Select the data set based on the data band you want to add it to. The report will always have three data bands; Product, Options and, Attributes.
- Format the field by selecting it and dragging a corner to make it bigger or smaller. You can also change the font by using the options on the Home toolbar. Alternatively you can select the Properties tab in the right sidebar and make your changes there.
Add a product image field
- To the right of the window you will see a sidebar with three tabs. Select the tab Dictionary.
- Under Data Sources select Worksheet Dataset > Product > Preview_Image.
- Drag and drop this field in the Product Databand.
- Resize the image by selecting the field and using the corner to drag it in or out to make it smaller or larger.
Field properties
- Select the field you want to change the properties for.
- To the right of the window you will see a sidebar with three tabs. Select the tab Properties.
- You will see the options available and click on the more options icon to make changes.
Alternatively you can also use the options on the Home toolbar.
Add a column header field
Before adding a column header field you must add a header. To add a header select the Insert toolbar then select Header and click in the report to add the header.
- To the right of the window you will see a sidebar with three tabs. Select the tab Dictionary.
- Under Data Sources select Worksheet Dataset > ColumnHeaders.
- Drag and drop the field you require into the Header band.
Add a rich text field
- Go to the Insert toolbar.
- Select the option Rich Text and click in the report in the area you want to add the text to.
- Add the text to the Rich Text window, you can also format the text here.
- Once you have added and formatted the text click OK.
- Select the text box and adjust the size of the box to fit the text.
Add an image
- Go to the Insert toolbar.
- Select the option Image and click in the report in the area you want to add the text to.
- Either drag and drop the image into the Image window or select the folder to the right of the window and navigate to the file location and select Open.
- Once you have added the image click OK.
- Select the image box and adjust the size of the box to fit the text.
Select a field
To select a field click on it. Grey boxes will appear around the field.
Select multiple fields by either pressing the Shift key and clicking multiple fields or, click and hold the left mouse button and lasso around the fields you want to select and release the mouse button.
