Giza Specials allow you to create custom sized furniture symbols based on a manufacturer’s symbol.
Launching Giza Specials
Click the Special Symbol Creation icon in the toolbar or choose Draw from the menu bar and select Special Symbols. Click OK when prompted to launch GIZA Specials.
Select a furniture symbol that is the closest representation of the symbol you wish to create. You may change the loaded manufacturer library by going to File in the menu bar and choosing OpenManufacturer. Notice that the selected symbol immediately displays in the 2D and 3D windows for editing.
Stretching the Symbol
Click the Stretch icon to begin the editing process.
Place the cursor in the drawing area. In this example, we will be stretching the right side of the worksurface and changing the dimension from a 48" wide to a 56" wide.
Hold down the left mouse button and drag a window around the area you wish to stretch. This selection box is represented by a dashed line rectangle.
When the mouse button is released, the Stretch dialog opens. Enter the distance you wish to stretch the symbol in the appropriate box. In this example, we are entering 8 inches. The direction of the arrows indicates the direction the symbol will be stretched. Simply click the arrow button to reverse the direction if needed.
2. Click OK to perform the stretch.
Editing the Text Label
As most symbols contain some form of text, such as the dimensions, you may need to edit the text to match the changed dimensions. To edit the text, right click on it and choose Edit Single.
Saving the Symbol
To save the symbol to the User Library, click the save icon.
Enter a new symbol name in the Symbol Identification section. It must be different than the current symbol name.
Change both the part number and description to accurately represent the new item.
If desired, enter a list price for the item in the Cost area.
Click Save to complete saving the symbol
Returning to Giza
After saving your symbol, you will need to click the Return to Giza icon in the toolbar, or go to the File menu and select Return to Giza... When prompted, choose Yes to regenerate the display list of the user library. The user library will then be updated with the newly created symbol.
Selecting the User Library
To open the User Library, select the File menu and choose Select Product Line...
Select User as the manufacturer and Library as the product line.
Click OK to load the User Library.
You may now place the special symbol you have just created.
The symbol can be used in any drawing at any time by placing it from the User Library.
