How to Calculate the Sq. Units of an Area in Giza
Giza has a tool which can help you estimate the square units of an area. To Access the tool, select the Draw menu at the top of the program and choose 2D Cad.
On the Draw CAD Sidebar menu, select the Dimension Tab. The Tool is located on the bottom under the Area section.
When the Calculate Area Tool appears, you can click the Start button to begin tracing an area in the drawing. When you connect back to your start point or click the Finish button to close the polygonal area, the area information will be displayed.
Example
In the below drawing we have a mostly 12’ by 12’ room. Calculating the Sq. Footage would be simple if the room was perfectly square, but the lower right room corner has a diagonal wall, preventing the room from being perfectly square.
- Activate the Area tool.
- Place a check mark next to "Redraw after calculation". This helps keep the drawing looking nice and clean after the calculation as it forces a redraw.
- Uncheck the XY forcing on the toolbar to trace along a non-orthogonal wall segment.
- Click Start, and you can now go into the drawing and snap to each corner wall, tracing your way around the inside perimeter.
5. When the perimeter is completed, the area will be displayed in the tool.
