Moving the user library to a new computer requires locating your existing user library files on the old computer. Once those files are located, they can be simply copied to the new computer and placed in the appropriate location.
Locating the Files
The user library is located in the Giza common libraries folder. The default location for these files is C:\ProgramData\Giza
Note: The ProgramData folder in Windows is by default a hidden folder. It is recommended to enable your computer to show hidden files and folders. You can learn how to show hidden files and folders in this article: How to show hidden files and folders in Windows If your libraries have been installed to a non-standard location the same concept applies but you will need to locate the files in a different folder than is described below. See tip section below.
The user library is comprised of a ublib.mfg file and a ulib folder. You will need to copy both of these items to the new computer.
The ulib.mfg file is located at C:\ProgramData\Giza
The ulib folder is located at C:\ProgramData\Giza\mfg
Copy the Files to the New Computer
Once you have located these items you will need to transfer them to the new computer. You could use an external storage device such as a USB or portable hard drive. If you have a network location or cloud storage accessible from both computers, you could copy the files to the network and then down to the new computer.
Paste the ulib.mfg file into the C:\ProgramData\Giza folder of the new computer.
Paste the ulib folder into the C:\ProgramData\Giza\mfg folder of the new computer.
Reopen Giza and verify the user library is now accessible on your new computer.
Tip: Locating Your Giza Common Libraries Folder
This article assumes your Giza content is installed to the standard location of C:\ProgramData\Giza. If your user library is not in this location, then your content may be installed to a customized location. To determine the correct folder location to find your user library check the following:
- In Giza, go to the Tools menu and select Options.
- Select the Files tab.
- Click the Advanced button.
- Your Common Libraries: path will be displayed here. This is the location you will find your user library files.
Example: This user has the Giza content installed to D:\2020Data\Giza. So, this user would find the ulib.mfg file in D:\2020Data\Giza and the ulib folder in D:\2020Data\Giza\mfg
