The tool will check tiles for correct fit after you place them into an elevation. It will mark incorrectly placed tiles with a large red X, as shown below:
-
In the above example we had a 48” wide structure run. We tried to place a 2 high 6” wide on the elevation, which is not allowed.
-
To move or erase a tile, select the tile or the tile text (not the red X marking).
-
Each time you place a tile, either from the Tile tool, or by copying an existing elevation tile, the tool performs a validation check.
-
Unless you have checked Lock C’s & I’s in Automation Preferences, the tool may move vertical structures automatically in order to allow valid placement of a tile.
-
You can copy tiles from one elevation to another, individually or in groups.
-
Two-sided tiles, such as glass, automatically fill both sides of the elevation.
-
The tool checks overlapped tiles and marks them if invalid.
Note: Tiles which overhang an elevation grid are not part of an elevation; therefore the tool DOES NOT check them for validity. -
You must identify and manually remove overhanging tiles.
-
In a takeoff, the tool counts only elevation tiles associated with an elevation. If you want to place individual tiles in a drawing, but do not want them associated with an elevation, you must insert them as plan view symbols from Cap Explorer.
-
To easily determine if any parts are not associated with an elevation, select the elevation and move it. Non-associated tiles will not move with the elevation and its associated tiles.
